“Tea (from the tea plant Camellia Sinensis is divided into six different main categories. The classification depends on the type of processing the tea leaves have undergone and can be broadly categorized by the degree of oxidation. These categories are attributed colors, which more or less vaguely represent the liquid in the cup. The two notable exceptions are blue tea(which is never blue, but some nifty sellers have started to add a blue colorant) and black tea. The latter is called black tea where the classification hints at the color of the dried leaves; the Chinese, however, look at the liquid and thus identify black tea as red tea.”
